A Life Designed by God
When I look back over my life now, I can see something I could not see while I was living it. I see a God who was designing a life for His purposes. My journey has taken me through many different seasons — naval air combat operations, multifunctional leadership roles with GE across markets around the world, ultimately serving as a Division Vice President and General Manager, and then leading several other companies through going public or being acquired. Along the way, I also served in Christian churches and organizations in a variety of roles. Eventually, something became increasingly clear: God was calling me to make serving Him a much greater focus of my life.
The Question That Changed Everything
One of the greatest blessings of my life was my wife, Ginny. She was not simply my wife. She was my source of love, encouragement, strength, and inspiration. When the Lord called her home several years ago, I experienced a loss that changed me forever.
Grief has a way of changing your perspective. It reminds you that life is precious. It reminds you that time is not guaranteed. And it causes you to ask questions you might never have asked as deeply before.
For me, those questions became very personal: Why am I here? What am I supposed to do with the years God has given me? Does my life really have a purpose?
As I began looking back over my life, I started to understand something that has become one of the most important lessons of my life: God's purpose for my life was not something I had to invent. It was something He had already designed.
Shaped Across Every Season
"God does not waste a surrendered life. He can take your talents and use them for His glory. He can take your experiences and turn them into wisdom. He can take your wounds and use them to help someone else."
